On the evening of August 1, 2025, Richard “Dick” Dale Foster was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He departed this life at Hospice of Cincinnati, Anderson unit. Dick was born in Manchester, Ohio, May 8, 1939, to the late Forrest Virgile and Bertha Lee Foster (nee Dryden). He was 86 years old and lived in Bethel, Ohio.
On August 30, 1957, he was united in marriage to Nancy Ann Wall. They were married for almost 68 years. In this marriage, a daughter was born; Patricia Ann (Foster) Gullett (Dan). Also he is survived by granddaughters: Amberly Ann Ramsey, Franklin, Ohio, and Arika Lynn Harvey (John), Georgetown, Ohio; 5 Great-Grandchildren: Christopher Dylan Ramsey, Batavia, Ohio; Marisa Lynne Humphries (Caleb), Franklin, Ohio; Ian Jacob Ramsey, Franklin, Ohio; Johnathan Jay Bodhan Harvey and Parker Keaton Harvey, Georgetown, Ohio, and 2 great-great-granddaughters; Annabella Lynne Humphries and Rylee Ann Humphries, Franklin, Ohio. Dick also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Carol Foster, Bethel, Ohio. Also he leaves countless friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Samuel Foster and Forresta Lee Foster.
Dick attended church all his life at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church, Winchester, Ohio, Bethel Nazarene Church, Bethel, Ohio, and Trinity Arcadia Methodist Church, Arcadia, Florida. On June 20, 2013, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Dick loved to attend church and sing the old hymns. He loved to read the Bible, particularly The Old Testament.
Dick never met a stranger and could talk to everyone. He was a very generous person. Always ready to help someone, whether physically or monetarily, even if he only had a dollar or five. He even gave a homeless person the coat that he was wearing. Dick enjoyed talking to people on the CB Radio. His CB handles (names) were Big Brother, Paper Boy, and 199. He made countless friends through this hobby. He also loved old antique cars and owned several vehicles, which he drove to many car shows, cruise-ins, and parades. He belonged to the Zane Trace, Classy Chariots, Hoodlum Alley Boys, and Old Car Friends car clubs. He also enjoyed many years boating on the Ohio River and many other lakes, including fishing in Canada. He loved to ride motorcycles.
He was member of Bethel Masonic Lodge No. 61; Valley of Cincinnati, Ohio Scottish Rite; Syrian Shrine, Cincinnati, Ohio, dementing to the Sahib Shrine, Sarasota, Florida; and Amelia Chapter #338, Ohio Eastern Star.
Dick retired from The Cincinnati Enquirer as a Teamster on May 30, 1996. He and Nancy were blessed to spend many winters in Arcadia, Florida, where he leaves many friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be held at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home 315 W. Plane St. (St. Rt. 125) Bethel, Ohio, on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 6:00 PM until time of Masonic Service at 8:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Church of the Nazarene 50 E. Water St., Bethel, Ohio on August 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Interment Tate Township Cemetery
