Douglas Allen Watson, 58, of Hamersville, Ohio, passed away on August 9, 2025, just one day before his 59th birthday. Born on August 10,1966 to James and Bonita Watson, Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jeffrey Watson.
Doug is survived by his children: sons Jordan Watson (wife Heather) and Dustin Watson; daughters Hayley James (husband Cody) and Meranda Watson; and his grandchildren Kaydon Watson, Kayleigh Watson, Ivy Watson and Nova James. He also leaves behind his siblings: sister Barbara Waugh (husband Harlan), and brothers David Watson (wife Dawn), William “Leon” Watson (wife Christina) and Patrick “Aaron” Watson (wife Tracey), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
Doug was a man of many talents and endless curiosity. A jack of all trades, and master at many. He often said he could do anything “but have a baby”. A mechanic, farmer, horse trader and fabricator. Doug was an endowed, past Master Mason at Marathon Lodge No. 203. These are just a few of the many callings he embraced. Doug believed in “function over fashion” and never paying full price for anything and he lived by it. He could fix anything, and he never hesitated to share his vast knowledge with others. Offering solid advice, pep talks, and encouragement to young people and adults alike.
Known for his generous heart, Doug would drop everything to help someone in need. Whether a stranger broke down on the roadside or a friend calling for help. His wisdom, humor, and compassion touched countless lives.
Doug will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he impacted. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Doug has laid down his working tools.
There will be a celebration of life on Labor Day, September 1, 2025. Time and place will be announced at a later date.
