The time of year when schools and many businesses in Brown County shut down for the week, and thousands make their way to the village of Georgetown each day to enjoy the most popular county fair in Ohio. Setup for this year’s fair is underway, and members of the Brown County Senior Fair Board are nearly ready to open the gates to attendees.

“I’m so excited,” said Christy Lucas, Brown County Senior Fair Board Secretary/Treasurer (Scott Twp). “We work all year round, and there is so much that takes place behind the scenes. As soon as this one is finished in October, we start working on next year’s fair.”

Drawing many youngsters to the fairgrounds in Georgetown each year for the Little State Fair are the rides. According to Lucas, the rides are thoroughly inspected each year before they are allowed to run passengers, safety being the highest priority.

“We’re fortunate to have a good ride company,” said Lucas.
