Over 250 attend humane society fundraiser
It was all about love for animals and sharing laughs at the first annual Comedy for a Doggone Cause fundraiser event held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2293 in Georgetown on Saturday, Nov. 4.
With more than 250 in attendance, the Sold by Shep (realtors Chris Shepherd and Mark Shepherd) and American Homeland Title Community Foundation (John Yonas) co-sponsored event to raise funds for the Brown County Humane Society was a huge success. The superb line-up of stand-up comedians included Jeremy Fogle, Chris Siemer, Brian Million, Mark Chalifoux, and headliner Josh Sneed.
Sneed has appeared on Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing, and performs at locations throughout the United States.
Chalifoux, a stand-up comedian and writer, has been featured on FOX and IFC as well as on the “Bob and Tom” national radio show.
Fogle, Siemer, and Million perform hilarious stand-up comedy locally.
Together, the crew of stand-up comedians didn’t disappoint, drawing hard laughs from the crowd throughout the evening.
“We can’t thank each and every one of you enough for coming out and supporting this event to raise money for the Brown County Humane Society Dog Shelter,” the Sold by Shep Team (Chris and Mark Shepherd) said in a recent social media post. “We packed the house with over 250 in attendance and with the final numbers still being tallied, we feel we are safe to say we raised over $8,000.”
It truly was a team effort that made the first annual Comedy for a Doggone Cause in Brown County such a success.
FOE 2293 donated the venue for the event. Darwin Laymen ran the sound system, and there were some donating items for the silent auction, items that included a signed Ickey Woods football jersey, framed classic movie posters, a Kentucky Bourbon gift basket, and more.
And, of course, the comedians played a huge role in the event’s success, drawing laughs that were nearly nonstop for two straight hours.
The Brown County Humane Society Animal Shelter, a no kill shelter since 2010, goes above and beyond the call of duty to control stray pet populations in the county, providing a number of services with the care of animals being top priority.
