This year marked the 53rd reunion of the Ohio Valley Antique Machinery Show, and the large turnout to this year’s event held Aug. 10-13 proved that the longtime tradition in Brown County is still going strong after more than five decades.

The idea of hosting an antique machinery show in southern Ohio came up in late 1970 and started with a meeting of local antique farm collectors with five in attendance.

The 53rd reunion of the OVAMS was held Aug. 10-13 on the show grounds just outside of Georgetown. The theme for this year’s OVAMS was “Battle of the Brands.”

This year’s OVAMS kicked off in tradition fashion with the opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on Aug. 10, colors were presented by Carey Bavis American Legion Post 180.

Events on Aug. 10 included The Great Lakes Timber Show throughout the day, concrete block making demonstrations, an all-equipment parade, and live entertainment by Tony Hale and Blackwater at 7 p.m.

Events on Friday, Aug. 11 included the Kids Garden Tractor Pull at 10 a.m. with parades and various demonstrations taking place on the grounds throughout the day. Live entertainment on Aug. 11 was provided by Ashley Best and the Set ‘Em Up Band.

Saturday, Aug. 12 events included the Antique Tractor Fun Pull at 10 a.m., as well as the Liberty Band performing on the main stage.

The election for the OVAMS Board of Directors was held from noon until 4 p.m. on Aug. 12.

Saturday also included live music by Chris Higbee.

The old fashioned steam engine spark show was held at dusk on Aug. 12.

The OVAMS continued on Sunday, Aug. 13 with church service at 8:30 a.m., the antique and classic car cruise-in at 9 a.m., and live entertainment by the Queen City Cloggers at noon.

There was also an all-equipment parade to wrap things up on Aug. 13.

Attendees young and old could be seen admiring the wide variety of antique machinery at this year’s OVAMS, an event that continues to draw large crowds to Brown County each year.
