A Georgetown man has been sentenced to five years in prison for supplying drugs that caused the deaths of two people.

Aaron Brandenburg was sentenced by Common Pleas Judge Scott Gusweiler on March 18 after pleading guilty to Corrupting Another with Drugs and Involuntary Manslaughter charges on February 8.

Brandenburg admitted to supplying heroin and fentanyl to Roger Duffy in October of 2017 and to Darren Sheldon in December of that year. Both men died of drug overdoses at the same residence in Georgetown.

He was originally charged in July of last year with ten felony counts in connection with the deaths of both men.

The sentence will be added to a two and a half year sentence that Brandenburg is currently serving for Failure to Comply and Improper Handling of Firearms in a Motor Vehicle. That sentence ends in October of 2020, and then the five year sentence will begin.

In addition to Brandenburg, Ricky Holland and Travis Smith have also pleaded guilty to supplying the drugs that resulted in Sheldon’s death.

Holland pleaded guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter on March 8 and was sentenced to four years in prison. Smith pleaded guilty to the same sentence last month and was sentenced to three years in prison.

“Three individuals were able to be identified in relation to two separate deaths at the same residence in a two month period. It goes back to the same principal. If you are dealing these drugs and somebody dies, we are going to hold you accountable,” said Brown County Prosecuting Attorney Zac Corbin.

“We’ve gone after the dealers in the city also. People who have not set foot in Brown County physically, but have communicated about selling drugs through electronic means, if those drugs cause deaths we can still go after them.”

Corbin said his office will continue making the price of causing an overdoes as high as possible.

“We will continue to pursue these cases. Our hope is that we can cause someone to think twice about dealing to someone in Brown County or traveling out here to deal drugs.”
