William Elza (Bill) Sparks age 87 of Aberdeen, Ohio passed away Tuesday March 19, 2019 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe.

Bill was born on March 13, 1932 on St. Rt. 41 in Aberdeen, Ohio. He was the son of the late Paul B. and Elnora Follmer Sparks.

He graduated from Aberdeen School in 1950. Bill was a United States Army Korean War Veteran. He served from August 1952 to August 1954. He worked at Wald Manufacturing for 42 years. Bill loved raising flowers, gardening and sharing his crops with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Joyce Fizer Sparks. They were married on July 12, 1952; two children, Louis Tyrone (Peggy) Sparks of Aberdeen, Ohio; Christina (Nick) Pitakis of Maysville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Holly Sparks and friend Cory Wormald, Kyle (Allie) Pitakis and Brandon Pitakis all of Maysville, Ky.; one great-grandchild, Emilia Quinn Pitakis also of Maysville, Ky.; one sister Lillian Ruth Zinkovich of Cocoa, Florida.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, William Allen Sparks, six sisters; Florene (Sparks) Shelton, Millie (Sparks) Shelton, Mary (Sparks) Fogle, Opal (Sparks) Porter, Jeanie (Sparks) Miller, and one brother Paul Thomas Sparks.

Services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday March 24, 2019 at Brell and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Clark Castle officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Charter Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 until time of service.
