Donathan receives SBAAC American Div. Co-Wrestler of the Year Award

To top off a successful senior season varsity wrestling, Western Brown High School’s Tanner Donathan has been named a Southern Buckeye Athletic/Academic Conference American Division Co-Wrestler of the Year. The Western Brown senior wrestling standout shared Co-Wrestler of the Year honors with Clinton-Massie junior Blake Seaman, and both received their Co-Wrestler of the Year awards, along with SBAAC American Division First Team awards, during the SBAAC’s Winter Sports Awards Dinner and Banquet held at Hamersville School on March 5.

There were seven other members of the Western Brown High School varsity wrestling team to take home American Division First Team awards during the winter banquet: senior Austin Terrell, senior Derek Spears, senior Jake Schuler, senior Derek Rymer, senior Dylan Mosher, junior Gage Daugherty, and sophomore Owen Bingamon.

Western Brown’s AJ Hurt (sophomore), Blake Hurt (senior), Ezra Marlow (junior), Gary Powell (sophomore), and Chad Robinson (junior) were all named SBAAC American Division Honorable Mentions.

The Western Brown Broncos finished their regular season as SBAAC American Division champions with a score of 239 in the SBAAC Tournament, while Clinton-Massie finished runner-up with a team score of 125.

Western Brown’s Wendel Donathan received this year’s SBAAC American Division Wrestling Coach of the Year Award.

The Blanchester Wildcats won the SBAAC National Division with a team score of 121, while Bethel-Tate finished runner-up with a team score of 111.5.

Blanchester senior Clayton Schirmer received the SBAAC National Division Wrestler of the Year Award, while Blanchester’s Scott Nicely took home the National Division Wrestling Coach of the Year Award.
