Lady Broncos preparing to defend SBAAC American Division crown

The Western Brown Lady Broncos faced off against some stiff preseason competition as they ventured to Little Miami on July 14 for a summer tournament.

The Lady Broncos took on teams from West Clermont, Little Miami, Lakota West, and Milford; placing third in their pool and competed in the silver bracket for tournament play.

“The summer tournament is a chance to see players in different line-ups, and see what you need to work on for the upcoming season,” said Western Brown varsity volleyball coach, Carla Fite.

In tournament play, it was Little Miami defeating Lakota West and West Clermont defeating McNicholas in the semi-finals.

Little Miami went on to defeat West Clermont 2-1 in the tournament finals.

The Lady Broncos take the court this fall on a quest to repeat as Southern Buckeye Athletic/Academic Conference American Division champions after losing six SBAAC all-stars from last year’s 10-0 team to graduation, including the league’s volleyball player of the year, Mary Sizer. But the Lady Broncos have a skilled crew of players on the return, a varsity volleyball team that is equipped with the talent and determination it will take to bring home their third consecutive league title.

The Lady Broncos open their upcoming fall season with an Aug. 13 match at home against Madeira.
