The Fayetteville-Perry Local School Board of Education met in a special meeting, June 13 and following a brief update on hirings at the schools, the board received and accepted the resignation of board treasurer, Joanna Carraher. Carraher has been treasurer at the district for nearly 20 years, but June 30 will be her last day at Fayetteville-Perry School District. She has accepted a position at treasurer at Williamsburg school system and begins on July 1, 2018. “I felt like it was time to make a change,” Carraher said. “This is a good time and a good opportunity for me and as sad as I am about leaving Fayetteville-Perry, I am just as excited about joining the staff at Williamsburg. “Ive been working with the Williamsburg people a little, and I see that they do things a lot different than I’m used to. Not better, not worse, just different. I have a lot to learn.” Fayetteville-Perry Superintendent Jim Brady has called a special meeting for Monday, June 25 and possibly Tuesday, June 26 at 5 p.m. to conduct interviews to fill Carraher’s position. The need for major purchases and any other matters that come before the board will also be discussed. It is hopeful that by the next board meeting a new treasurer will be approved.
