Western school board meets

By Martha B. Jacob –

Members of the Western Brown Local School Board of Education heard a report from Melissa Whitley-Huff who is the Environmental Science Club advisor at the school, during the May 14 meeting.
Whitley-Huff said that her science club has been packing up shoe boxes for the Operation Christmas Child program for at least 4 years and often received letters of thanks from their recipients. This year, however, the group received not only letters but also pictures.
“Someone from one of the churches who passed out the boxes that we packed and sent was kind enough to take some pictures for us,” Whitley-Huff told the board. “I received an email of a picture of a 5-year old little girl named Dorcile Bikorimana in Bujumbura, Burundi. It was exciting for my class to see the pictures, knowing she received her special box of gifts that had been packed by us.”
