Billie George Walkup, 88, passed away Tuesday, January 17th surrounded by family at his home in Cincinnati. He was born September 24, 1928 in Meadow Bridge, West Virginia and lived many years in Brown County, Ohio. After service in the U.S. Army Bill was a civil engineer for Maxon, Judy Construction and Southern Marine Construction Companies. He specialized in marine construction and built many bridges throughout the Ohio and Tennessee River valleys. He enjoyed singing, dancing and tinkering on his antique cars.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents Pearl (Rose) Walkup and William Oran Walkup; sisters Ethel Twohig, Glenna Rollins, Susan Garland and Mary Lee Gendelman; daughter Marlene Abrams and granddaughter Jolene Abrams.
Bill is survived by his brother John (Pat) Walkup; daughters Rhonda (Mike) Whited, Deborah (Don) Gaskill, Ashley (Jay) Slouffman and Crystal Patrick; son Mike (Kelly) Walkup and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is Saturday, January 21st from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Meadow Bridge United Methodist Church, 317 Main Street, Meadow Bridge, West Virginia. Funeral services are 1:30 PM Sunday, January 22nd at the church followed by burial at Patton Cemetery in Meadow Bridge.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Goodnews Outreach Mission Inc., PO Box 112, Meadow Bridge, West Virginia. Bill enjoyed many meals and happy times there picking and singing at their Tuesday night “Meadow Bridge Opry”.
