Smith leads way in Western Brown win –

After starting off their season 0-6, wins have started to come for the Western Brown Broncos.
The Broncos played host to the New Richmond Lions for a Southern Buckeye Athletic/Academic Conference American Division battle on Jan. 6, and it was the home standing Broncos pulling out a narrow 54-51 win.
Leading the way in scoring for the Broncos was junior Elijah Smith with 14 points, sinking five-of-eight attempts from the field and connecting on four-of-six shots from the charity stripe.
Also shooting for double figures for the Broncos was  senior postman Joe Sams with 11 points to go along with eight rebounds after recently returning from an injury.
Logan Nickell, Hunter O’Hara, and Clayton Wolfe all contributed in the win with six points each.
The Broncos trailed the Lions 16-11 at the end of the first quarter, burt went on to outscore the New Richmond squad 21-11 in the second period.
At halftime, the Broncos held a 32-27 lead.
The Broncos were outscored 11-7 in the third quarter, but went on to outscore the Lions 15-13 in the final frame to bring home the three-point victory.
The Broncos were back in action Jan. 7, suffering a 62-59 non-league loss to the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs while on the road. Sams and Wolfe each shot for 13 points against the Mustangs to lead Bronco scorers.
The Broncos were scheduled to take on the Georgetown G-Men in a road game on Jan. 17.
