Day leads way in win over North Adams –

The Eastern Lady Warriors upped their winning streak to five games and their overall record to 5-0 by topping the North Adams 53-50 in Monday’s round of high school girls hoop action.
The Lady Warriors were on the road for the Dec. 12 Southern Hills Athletic Conference bout against the Lady Green Devils.
The Lady Warriors got off to a hot start, outscoring the Lady Devils 21-7 in the first quarter with six Eastern players contributing buckets in the frame.
Scoring picked up for the Lady Devils in the second quarter as both teams managed 15 points in the period.
At halftime, it was the Lady Warriors leading 36-22.
The Lady Warriors expanded their lead to 48-29 by outscoring the Lady Devils 12-7 in the third quarter of play.
When it looked as if the Lady Warriors were well on their way to a comfortable victory on the road, the Lady Devils came storming back in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lady Warriors 21-5 in the final frame.
The Devil rally came too little, too late as the Lady Warriors were able to hold on for the narrow three-point win.
Leading the way in scoring for the Lady Warriors was junior Allison Day, finishing with 18 points.
Eastern’s Destinie Rose also reached double figures in scoring with 10 points.
Eastern’s Morgan Reynolds ended the night with eight points, while Whitney Broughton contributed seven points to the Lady Warriors’ side of the scoreboard.
Alexa Pennington fired for six points in the win over North Adams, and rounding out Eastern’s scoring were Camryn Pickerill and Mikayla Farris with two points apiece.
Lakyn Hupp led the Lady Devils in scoring with 12 points, while teammate Madison Jenkins finished with 11 points.
The Lady Warriors were scheduled for another tough SHAC contest on the road as they ventured to Fayetteville-Perry High School to face the 5-2 Lady Rockets on Dec. 15, and on Dec. 22 they will venture to Logan High School for a non-league bout, their final game before the start of the Brown County Holiday Tournament to be held Dec. 29-30 at Eastern High School.
The Lady Warriors will face the Fayetteville-Perry Lady Rockets in the first round of the Brown County Holiday Tournament on Dec. 29.
