November events planned at Mary P. Shelton Library

There are programs to entice everyone as we gear up for the holidays at the Mary P. Shelton Library. Estel Newberry from Big “E” BBQ is back for Carey’s Cooking Corner at 2 p.m. on Friday Nov. 13. Just in time for the holidays, Estel will be sharing tips and techniques on preparing and smoking the perfect holiday ham or turkey.

Teens and young adults ages 14 – 21 are invited to our second Annual Card Tournament. Join us Friday evening, Nov. 20 from 6 – 10 p.m. to show off or sharpen your YU-GI-OH! (advanced format) and Magic (modern format) skills. Prizes will be awarded and refreshments served.

Following the 2015 Georgetown Christmas Parade on Dec. 5 , run as fast as you can to the Mary P. Shelton Library. Stop in the Library Community Room from 3-4 p.m. to decorate and enjoy a gingerbread cookie craft. Then head downstairs to the Children’s Reading Garden from 3-5 p.m., where you can visit with Santa and listen to a story read by Mrs. Claus. Don’t forget your camera for photo opportunities. While you’re there, register to win a Christmas gift basket filled with Christmas stories and goodies for kids of all ages.
