On Aug. 17, Mr. Steve Dembo was the keynote speaker for county educators at the annual Brown County In-Service at Western Brown High School.

Dembo has become a pioneer in the field of educational social networking. He is currently serving as Discovery Education’s Director of Social Media Strategy and Online community. He was among the first educators to realize the power of blogging, podcasting, integrating Twitter, as well as other web technologies that allow educators to connect and create professional learning communities outside of their immediate educational circle. Dembo has been instrumental in the explosive growth of the Discovery Educator Network and its online presence.

He is the co-author of the book “Untangling the Web: 20 Tools to Power up Your Teaching.” The National School Board Association named him on 2010’s Twenty to Watch List, a list which honors individuals finding innovative ways to use technology to increase classroom learning. Dembo gave Brown County educators many practical and innovative ideas for incorporating technology in our local schools.
