Kentucky native finds passion in farming

8 days ago | | | Email

GEORGETOWN — Tammy Montgomery isn’t your average farmer. Most farmers come from established backgrounds, with farming running in their family for generation after generation. But Montgomery had a different career path that led her to farming.Three years ago, Montgomery traded a comfortable job working in an air-conditioned building for the back-breaking labor involved in maintaining her two-acre farm on Free Soil Road. From there, she took her surplus crop to the Georgetown Farmer’s Market, where she’s become somewhat of a local treasure. It took her time to get settled, but now in her third year of farming, she seems to have solved the puzzle.
