Marlene Thompson, age 81, of Sardinia, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley in Seaman, OH.
She was born April 27, 1935 in Brown County, OH, daughter of the late Ora Piper  and Birdie Lowe Piper.
She was a member of the Winchester United Methodist Church where she had been active in the United Methodist Women and the Choir. She was also a member of the Ohio Buckeye Draft Horse Association, and the Southern Ohio Draft Horse Association. Marlene was a former school teacher in Adams County for over 35 years. In 1993-1994, for 16 months Marlene traveled from Kennebunkport, Maine to San Diego California with a six horse hitch wagon. She served as the cook for the cross country expedition. The travels were for the Ryman Publishing Company with articles about the adventures  in the Farm and Ranch, Country, Reminisce, and Taste of Home magazines.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Vikki  and Louis Rebensdorf III, of Sardinia, OH, and one sister, Marjorie Bridges of Maysville, KY.
In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil E. Thompson who died April 1, 2015.
A Celebration of Marlene’s Life will be held at the Winchester United Methodist Church, Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 5:00 pm with Pastor Greg Roberts officiating.
