Soon-to-be George-town High School graduates got the chance to show off their gowns and tasseled caps a bit early, as the school district held a Parade of Graduates at Georgetown Elementary School on May 20.
Elementary students lined the hallways, slapping high fives with this year’s graduating seniors, who were accompanied by some school staff members. The graduating seniors paraded through the elementary school while some elementary students held up their works of art to show their support for the soon-to-be Georgetown graduates as they passed by in their caps and gowns.
Some of the seniors carried signs that bared the names of the colleges they will be attending after high school graduation.
“It gives the elementary kids a chance to see the finish line and what they can accomplish,” said Georgetown Superintendent Chris Burrows.
Georgetown High School’s graduation is scheduled for June 5.
