Names released in PIke County shooting, reward offered

By Wayne Gates – Editor

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has released the names of the eight murder victims found in rural Pike County on Friday.  Dana Rhoden, 37, Gary Rhoden, 38, Kenneth Rhoden, 44, Christopher Rhoden Sr., 40, Christopher Rhoden, Jr., 16, Hannah Gilley, 20, Clarence “Frankie” Rhoden, 20, and Hanna Rhoden, 19.

Dana and Christopher, Sr. were divorced and Frankie, Hanna and Christopher Jr. were their children.  Gilley was Frankie’s fiancee and Gary and Kenneth were cousins of Christopher, Sr.  All of the bodies have been transferred to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office in Cincinnati for autopsy.

The killings took place at four different homes some time on Friday, April 22 or early Saturday April 23.  A four day old baby, a six month old baby and a three year old child survived the attacks.  Police are still looking for a suspect in the shootings.  “These people did not commit suicide.  We have a murderer or murderers who have done this,” said Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine at a press conference on Friday evening.

At the same press conference, Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader said “Never could I imagine such devastation to a family.”  When asked if he had a message for the killer or killers, Reader responded “We’re coming.”

Cincinnati restaurant owner Jeff Ruby is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter or shooters.
