Eastern Brown, Ripley golfers in District action

Ripley’s Scottie Ott represented the Blue Jays at the Division III Southwest Ohio District Golf Tournament last week.

Ott placed 52nd out of 72 golfers in the tournament. He carded a 49 on his first nine holes at Meadows and a 46 on the final nine holes of the day at Valley View.

Newtown’s Brock Jamison and Jack Lane from Seven Hills carded a 73 and 76, resepctively, to qualify as individuals for state tournament play.

Mechanicsburg topped Southeastern by two strokes as a team but both earned bids, with Seven Hills and Newtown finishing four strokes behind Southeastern.

In Division II play, Bethel’s Mitchell McElfresh carded an 80 at Weatherwax. He shot a 41 on the front nine at Woodside and a 39 on the back side at Highlands, finishing in a tie for 15th. Fenwick’s Miles Jena and Madeira’s Ethan Snyder earned individual bids, shooting a 73 and 76, respectively.

McNicholas, Oakwood and CHCA earned team bids with Indian Hill finishing fourth.

Finally, Eastern Brown sent a pair of golfers to the Division III Southeast District tournament, held at Elks Country Club.

Junior Blake Rigdon shot an 88 while teammate Jordan Johnson carded an 83. Johnson was just four strokes behind Derek Lemley of Chesapeake, who took the second individual qualifier spot. Johnson finished in a tie for seventh in the individual standings while Rigdon tied for 13th.

Waterford and West Union earned the two team bids.
