During four days of camp, 35 students from the Brown County area learned about local natural resources in Green Camp.
Students participating in the basic program had tours of the Rumpke landfill and the Adams Brown Recycling center. They collected fossils, conducted stream monitoring, and witnessed an ODNR Division of Wildlife electro-fishing demonstration. The advanced class explored methods for capturing the beauty of nature through art.
Green Camp organizers said they appreciate the hard work of everyone who helped make the event such a memorable experience. It would not be successful without the campers whose participation made camp so much fun, stated a spokesperson.
Organizers also recognized the Brown County Solid Waste Authority for its annual financial support which provides transportation, snacks and equipment for the program. They also appreciate Kate Woods and Beverly Brown for assisting the entire week, according to a spokesperson.
The Green Camp program is a collaborative effort between Adams Brown Recycling, Rumpke and the Brown County Soil and Water Conservation District.
